THIRD TOP-FIVE FINISH BY FRESHMAN ABI LAKER AT ARKANSAS STATE

RECAPPING OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS ON US WOMEN'S COLLEGE CIRCUIT

Abi Laker from Oxfordshire, a freshman student at Arkansas State University, achieved her third top-five finish - which includes a victory - of the 2012-2013 college golf season in the Lady Red Wolf Classic last month (we may have missed it at the time due to the Editor being on holiday).

Abi (pictured) had rounds of 73, 69 and 75 for a third-placed finish on 217 - four shots  behind the winner, Malin Senneryd (Central Arkansas) who scored 72-69-72 for 213, winning by a shot from team-mate Julia Roth (72-69-73).
Another Arkansas State player Anna Carling from Vale of Glamorgan, now in her fourth and final college year, finished 10th on 227 with rounds of 80, 71 and 76. 
Ayrshire's Rachael McQueen (McLennan College, Texas) finished joint 12th on 229 with scores of 78, 77 and 74 by the Troon Ladies GC member.   
Central Arkansas (872) won the team title ahead of Arksansas State (888) and McLennan  (921).

BEST TOTAL, BEST US FINISH FOR 
EMMA CLEGG FROM BLACKBURN


Blackburn's Emma Clegg, in her fourth and final year at Missouri State University, achieved a US career best round and best total in the Payne Stewart Memorial tournament at the college's own golf course at Rivercut.
Over a par-72 lay-out of 6082yd, Emma, pictured, shot 71, 73 and 75 for a three-over-par total of 219, finishing second in a field of 91 players.
Emma was only one shot behind the winner, Sweden's Emelie Westrup (Arkansas-Little Rock) who shot 76-72-70 for 218.
So, very well done Emma Clegg!
In the same tournament, Ireland's Megan Thompson (also a Missouri State student) had scors of 76, 77 and 73 to finish a creditable eighth on 226.
Jessica Schiele (Oklahoma City) from Grimsby came joint 12th on 229 with scores of 76-79-74.
Katie Reid (Arkansas-Little Rock) from Dundee finished on251 with rounds of 85-81-8l but her college won the team title with a total of 895, only two shots ahead of runners-up Missouri State with Jessica Schiel's OK City fifth on 925.
