DRYBURGH AND WATTON DOWN THE FIELD IN GEORGIA

CURTIS CUP STAR STEPHANIE TOP BRIT AT ATHENS

Scots Gemma Dryburgh from Aberdeen and Edinburgh's Rachael Watton both finished well down the field in the weekend's main US women's college golf tournament, the Liz Murphey Fall Preview at the Georgia University course, Athens in Georgia.
Dryburgh, a student at Tulane University, New Orleans finished joint 53rd in a field of 89 players with scores of 73, 78 and 77 for a 12-over-par total of 228.
Watton, a student at Denver University, had scores of 78, 78 and 73 for a total of 229 and a share of 57th place.
The best British performance was by Curtis Cup star and British amateur champion Stephanie Meadow (Alabama), pictured above, who shot 70, 73 and 74 for 217 and 10th place behind the winner. Mary Michael Maggio (Texas A and M).

Maggio scored 72, 74 and a great last round of 67 for a three-under total of 213.
Former British girls championship beaten finalist Elizabeth Mallett from Sutton Coldfield, a freshman at the University of North Carolina, finished T26 on 222 with improving scores of 77, 73 and 72.
Elizabeth did her bit to help North Carolina (876) win the team title ahead of runners-up Alabama (880) with Auburn and Southern California sharing third place on 883. Denver (895) came 10th and Tulane (903) 14th in a field of 18 teams.
