SCOTS SENIOR WOMEN TENTH IN SWITZERLAND


Tain's Mary Smith and Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) were Scotland's joint lowest scorers in the stroke-play qualifying rounds of the European senior women's amateur team championship at Lugano Golf Club, Switzerland today
Only the top eight teams qualify for the championship flight and for Scotland, previous European senior champions, it was a disappointing 10th place finish in the card-and-pencil stage with a total of 814, 50 shots behind the leading team, France and 39 behind second-placed England.
Scotland's scores were:
160 Mary Smith (Tain) 78 82, Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) 80 80.
