TOM GAMBLE WINS COLLEGE EVENT AT WINTERHAVEN, FLORIDA

Tom Gamble from Walton-on-Thames, a student at Webber International University, Florida, won the Southeastern Fire Invitational men's college tournament at Lake Region Yacht and Country Club, Winterhaven in Florida this week.
Tom (pictured) headed a field of 59 players with four shots to spare, thanks to rounds of 72, 68 and 70 for a six-under-par aggregate of 210 over a par-72, 6,562yd course.
Edinburgh's Greg Richards (Savannah College) finished joint 14th on 224 with scores of 75, 72 and 77.
Connor O'Dell, from Taunton, a team-mate of Tom Gamble at Webber International, finished T35 on 231 with scores of 66, 76 and 78 for 231. Webber International (867) won the team title by a big margin from Brevard Community College (883).
Savannah College (897) came sixth of nine teams.



MICHAEL O'CONNOR FINISHES 5th IN NEW MEXICO

Michael O'Connor (Western New Mexico), a freshman student from Hayes, Middlesex finished fifth in a field of 40 players at the Cactus Thaw men's college tournament over two rounds at Silver City Golf Club in New Mexico. Over a par-71 course of 6,447yd, O'Connor shot 70 and 74 for two-over-par 144.
Liam Brace (Grand Canyon) from Suffolk came eighth on 146 (71-75). Winner was Jimmy Kozikowski (South Mountain CC) (66-70). South Mountain won the team title ahead of Western New Mexico in a field of five squads.
