ENGLAND SEND STRONG SQUAD TO SCOTTISH U16GIRLS CH/SHIP
NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
A squad of six teenagers will represent England in the Scottish U16 open strokeplay championship at Strathmore Golf Club, on April 12 and 13.
They are:
Gabriella Cowley (West Essex)
Annabel Dimmock (Wentworth)
Emma Harris (Peel Ladies)
Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted)
Sophie Keech (Lyme Regis)
Sophie Madden (West Essex).
At last year’s championship at the Alyth venue, England carried off the honours with squad players winning both the individual title and the team prize.
Gabriella Cowley, 15, is the English U15 girls’ champion and last year represented England in the annual U16 mixed international against Spain. Annabel Dimmock, 15, was runner-up in the English U15 championship and played in the EWGA squad at the North of England U16 championship.
Emma Harris, 16, is the Lancashire champion and played at the 2011 English County Finals. She was in EWGA’s squad at the North of England U16 championship.
Alice Hewson, 14, won the 2010 English U13 girls’ championship and had a top ten finish in last year’s U15 event. She played for Hertfordshire at County Finals.
Sophie Keech, 15, won the 2011 English schools’ championship and the Dorset ladies title. She represented England in the U16 international against Spain. Sophie Madden, 14, won the 2011 East region girls’ championship and the U14 age group of the US Kids Teen World Championship.
