US COLLEGE GOLF

EUROPEANS TO FORE AT ALBUQUERQUE
It could have been the finish of a European women’s amateur tournament – but it wasn’t. It was the Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico’s course at Albuquerque.
Chasing the winner Catherine Matrange (Texas Christian) home were Germany-born Sandra Gall (Florida), Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist (Arizona State) and Belgium’s Benedicte Toumpsin (South Carolina) who tied for second place on 215 – one shot more than the winner.
Former British girls champion Azahara Munox (Arizona State) tied for seventh place.
Catterick’s Jodi Ewart, who has just started her scholarship at the University of New Mexico tied for ninth place.
