MARTINE GOES SIX CLEAR WITH 

ONE ROUND TO GO AT NAIRN

 

Scottish champion Martine Pow is set to win another title over the Nairn links on Sunday. The 40-year-old scaffolder from Selkirk leads by six strokes with one round to play in the British women's mid-amateur golf championship.

With a strong wind making life very difficult for the over-25s, Martine Pow put together a solid second-round 75 for a 36-hole tally of three-over-par147.

Her nearest challenger is a former winner of the tournament, Welsh international Jo Nicolson from Wrexham, with a 79 for 153.

Last year's Scottish champion, Fiona Lockhart (St Regulus) is sharing third place on 155 after a 79 and Cara Gruber from Royal Dornoch is another Scot up with the leaders.

Cara is sharing sixth place on 158 after repeating her opening-round 79.

A total of 43 players with 36-hole aggregates of 182 or better qualified for the final round.
