NORTH-EAST TAKE TEAM TITLE BUT

ELGIN'S WATSON IS TOP INDIVIDUAL

 

North-east won the area youths team golf championship for the fourth time in the past five years at Grantown on Spey on Sunday.

They totalled 746 in a scheduled two-round tournament of which the afternoon play was cut to nine holes because of heavy rain.

North were runners-up on 760 with Angus third on 782.

Michael Watson (Elgin) won the individual prize with scores of 67 and 34 for 101. Runner-up was John Duff (Newmachar) with 68 and 34 for 102.
