GB AND I PLAYERS LIKE QUAKER RIDGE COURSE

Curtis Cup team captain Elaine Farquharson-Black reports after the six GB and I players' first round over the the Quaker Ridge Golf Club, New York State, course, which will be the venue for the match against the USA next June:

"The squad like the course. - It’s a par-70, with only two par-5 holes. It is quite straightforward from tee to green, but hitting the right parts of the green will be key as the greens are sloping and will be extremely fast in June. "It’s a Tillinghast design, the same designer as Somerset Hills. I think that sloping greens are his signature."

+The 1990 Curtis Cup match, in which Elaine played, was at Somerset Hills Golf Club, New Jersey. The very slick greens and undulating putting surfaces contributed to a scoreline of USA 14, GB and Ireland 4 that year.
