ALICE IN BLUNDERLAND BLOWS WINNING CHANCE IN USA

Curtis Cup player Alice Hewson tumbled out of the lead with a disastrous final round of 81 for a two-over-par total of 218 and a joint sixth place finish in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite women's college tournament at the University of Texas Golf Club, Austin, Texas earlier this week.
After rounds of 70 and 67 over the par-72, 6,491yd course, the Clemson University player from Berkhamsted had two double bogeys at short holes in her final round as well as seven bogeys. Birdies at the 14th and 18th came too late.
Another GB and I international player, Olivia Mehaffey (Arizona State University) also totalled 218 with rounds of 73, 72 and 73.
Former Scottish U18 girls champion Fiona Liddell, a student at Baylor University, Texas, finished T39 in a field of 81 players. She scored 74, 76 and 78 for 228.
Winner of the individual title by four strokes was Sophia Schubert (Texas), playing over her home course, with rounds of 69, 70 and 71 for six-under 210.
