Record-breaker Kimberley heads North of

Scotland championship qualifiers at Kemnay

Kimberley Beveridge (Aboyne), pictured, broke the Kemnay Golf Club course record with an excellent score of three-under-par 70 in blustery conditions to lead the 16 qualifiers for the match-play stages of the North of Scotland women's amateur championship today.
Rachel Polson set the previous record of 72 in June last year.
Kimberley had halves of 38 (one over par) and 32 (four under). She bogeyed the first and fourth and then got her first birdie at the par-5 eighth.
She then came scorching home with birdies at the 12th, 13th, par-5 16th and par-4 17th.
Beveridge won the title in 2015 but lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion Shannon McWilliam at Dunblane New 12 months ago. Shannon could not defend the title because the tournament clashes this year with the Scottish U18 girls championship in which she has reached the semi-finals
Muckhart players Eilidh Watson and Jen Saxton earned the Nos 2 and 3 seedings with rounds of 73 and 74.
