Operation squeejee at Balgownie to keep greens playable at Scottish women's chship

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Royal Aberdeen Golf Club greenstaff, with the help of referee Liz Munro from Lossiemouth and Fraser Munro (pictured below), Scottish Golf Head of Events from Kinross, were among the squeejee teams removing the excess water off the greens worst affected by the nonstop rain since very early morning.

Play has not been interrupted so far but the conditions have been awful for competitors in the first qualifying round of the 103rd Scottish women's amateur championship.
Liz Munro, a golf referee for many moons, said it was the first time she had worn Wellington boots on a golf course, it was that wet.

"But I finished with dry feet!"
said Liz.
