GEMMA BATTY'S PAR START IN PORTUGAL


ANGLO-SCOT GEMMA BATTY'S PAR START IN PORTUGAL

Gemma Batty, born in England but a Scotland player by residence, is the leading Scot with a level par round of 72 at the end of the first round of the Portuguese women's international amateur golf championship at Montado Golf Resort today (WED).

Sharing 15th playce, she is five shots behind the Italian leader, Letizia Bagnoli whose 67 has given her a one stroke advantage at the head of a field of 90 players.

Chloe Goadby (St Regulus) had a 73 for a joint 24th position.

Aboyne's Shannon McWilliam is T47 after a 75.

Hannah McCook from Grantown on Spey had a 79 for a share of 76th place.

England's Sammy Fuller is the best placed British and Irish player in joint fourth position with a 69.
