BOWL AT GULLANE WITH 2 EAGLES

Claire Robertson staged a grandstand, double-eagle finish to win the prestigious 36-hole Mackie Bowl women's tournament at Gullane Golf Club today.

The Carnoustie Ladies player shot round of 73 and 74 for a three-under-par total of 147-one shot ahead of runner-up Molly Richmond (Strathaven)(74-740 with Gillian Paton (Royal Montrose)(77-720 one shot further back in third place on 149.

Robertson led by a shot at the halfway point but an outward half of 39 left the door open for her challengers to make a run. But Claire stepped up a gear after the turn with eagle 3s at the par-5 10th and 14th. Then a birdie 3 at the 18th for an inward half of 35 clinched victory for her.

Richmond, who had finished birdie-birdie in the morning, had birdies at the 10th, 12th and 14th in the afternoon and was on course for at least a play-off but bogeyed the 17th to fall one short of that.

Paton had an eagle 3 at the 10th and birdies at the 12th and 14th. She bogeyed the 15th and could only par the last three.
