Jane Turner books place in RWBO Final Q

as she shares lead in Pre-Qualifier

One-under-par 71 was a popular score   more than midway through the Ricoh Women's British Open Pre-Qualifying round at The Berkshire Golf Club, Ascot today.

Eight players - four of them amateurs - were on that mark as they led the chase for places in the Final Qualifying competition at John O'Gaunt Golf Club, Bedfordshire on Monday, July 25, three days before the main 72-hole international event tees off at Woburn Golf Club.
The leading 25 and ties at the conclusion of today's round will advance to the Final Qualifying.
Sharing the lead are Scotland's Jane Turner (pictured), France's Agathe Sauzon plus amateurs Cloe Frankish (Chart Hills), Chloe Williams (Wrexham) and Inci Mehmet (Wentworth) who were joined after a 30min suspension of play due to heavy rain and flooding, by Laura Jansone from Latvia and a fourth amateur, Chantelle Cassidy from New Zealand.
Turner cashed in on her long-hitting capability to birdie four par-5 holes, the third, sixth, 12th and 16th in halves of 34 and 37.
Former GB and international Chloe Williams salvaged a 71 after a double bogey 76 at the ninth in an outward half of 38. The Welsh player from Wrexham was four under par for the last eight holes - birdies at the 11th, 12th, 14th and 16th - and had six birdies in all.
Sauzon had a shaky spell in the middle of her havles of 35-36. She bogeyed the fifth, 11th and 12th, but birdies at the third, fourth, 16th and 18th ensured she would make it through to the Final Qualifying.
Cloe Frankish had halves of 34 and 37, including an eagle 3 at the 477yd 11th and a double bogey 6 at the 15th. She also bogeyed the last two holes when set to lead the field. She had birdies at the long third, ninth and 16th.

Mehmet too had to overcome a double bogey 6, at the eighth in halves of 36 and 35. The Wentworth player birdied the long sixth, ninth, 14th and long 16th.
Kiwi Cassidy looked set to lead when she birdied the third, ninth and 16th and was three under par on the 17th tee. But the penultimate hole cost her a double bogey 6, the only blemish in halves of 35 and 36.
Jansone had five birdies in halves of 35-36 but four bogeys reduced her position to one under par.
Heavy rain which flooded some of the greens caused a 30min suspension of play around 2.15pm.
