France's Icher (37) looks to become oldest

French woman Karine Icher moved into position Saturday at the ShopRite Classic to win her first LPGA title and break the chokehold youth has gained on that tour this year.
Icher equalled the tournament course record at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, posting a 9-under-par 62 to take the lead going into Sunday’s final round, which is being pushed up to an early start with a threat of bad weather in the area. Icher’s at 12 under overall, a shot ahead of Haru Nomura (66) and Na Yeon Choi (64).
Nomura is seeking her third LPGA title this year, which would equal Ariya Jutanugarn as most on tour. Choi is seeking her second LPGA title of the year.
Anna Nordqvist posted 68 and sits just two shots back in a bid to defend her ShopRite Classic title.
Icher is only 37, and yet she’s 14 years older than any player hoisting an LPGA trophy this year.
With the calendar turning to June, Ha Na Jang remains the oldest winner of an LPGA event this season. Jang was 23 years, 10 months and 4 days old when she won the HSBC Women’s Champions in February.
“I just like to play easy and not look at the scoreboard,” said Icher, who is in her 11th full season on tour.
Icher won five times as a Ladies European Tour member.
Final-round tee times have been moved up Sunday with bad weather forecast. Play will begin at 6:45 a.m. with threesomes going off the first and 10th tee boxes.
Catriona Matthew is five shots off  the pace in tied eighth place after a 70 for 135, the same 36-hole tally as Yorkshire's Jodi Ewart Shadoff (66-69).
Northern Ireland's former Curtis Cup player Stephanie Meadow is T15 on 136 (66-70).
Charley Hull was the only other Brit to survive the second-round cut. She is T36 with scores of 73-66 for 139.
