Michele Thomson's second place finish earns

her £4,992 top prize in Sweden

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Michele Thomson from Ellon, a tour pro at Meldrum House Golf Club, Oldmeldrum, finished second in the LETAS Halmstadt Ladies Open in Sweden today - and won first prize of £4,992!
That's because the winner was an amateur, Spain's Maria Parra, who shot rounds of 71, 67 and 69 for a nine-under aggregate of 207.
Thomson, who had opened with scores of 70 and 71, returned a bogey-free, four-under-par 68 for a total of 209. She birdied the ninth, 11th, 15th and 17th in her last round.
Lothians' Jane Turner had a nightmare final round of 79 which included a triple bogey 7 at the eighth and a quadruple bogey 7 at the short 14th in halves of 38-41. She had a pair of 71s over the first two rounds.
A total of 221 dropped her to a share of 43rd place and she earned £312.
