College students Burke and Stephenson share

Dixie Women's Amateur Championship lead

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida — University of South Florida junior (third year student) Ashley Burke joined Clemson freshman Lauren Stephenson at the top at the Dixie Women's Amateur halfway point with a second-round 70.
Stephenson, who opened with 67 to share the 18-hole lead with Ashley Holder, posted 71 on day two and alongside Burke, sits a stroke ahead at 6-under 138.
Burke, of Boynton Beach, Florida, had a rough patch in the middle of her second round, bogeying three of four holes between 8 and 11. But she made three birdies during her final seven holes and climbed up the leaderboard into a share of the lead.
Stephenson had a tamer round on Thursday after making seven birdies and two bogeys in round one at Heron Bay Golf Club. Her 1-under par score on day two saw three red numbers and two blemishes, including a bogey on the par-3 17th.
Holder, a University of Central Florida third-year student, fell back into a tie for fourth place with a 73.
Roos Haarman of the Netherlands sits a stroke back in third place after rounds of 68-71 for 139. Tied for fourth place with Holder is Ecuadorian golfer Daniela Darquea, who plays for the University of Miami.
Three players didn't finish their second round, including Maria Fassi of Mexico. Her 68 in round one put her in a four-way tie for third place through 18 holes, but she, along with Vanessa Knecht and Addie Baggarly will complete their second round at TPC Eagle Trace on Friday morning local time.
