West of Scotland girls association's 60th
birthday in 2016
The West of Scotland Girls Golf Association will be 60 years old in 2016.
The
Association was started by May Menzies to encourage girls to play and
improve their golf. It has achieved this aim over the years. Many
girls have benefitted from their help and support, including some who
went on the professional ranks such as Janice Moodie, Mhairi McKay and
Pamela Pretswell, and some who have remained amateur…. Megan and Eilidh
Briggs, Aileen Wilson… the list is endless.
Clubs in the West have also contributed, giving courtesy of their courses for medals and matches.
So many friendships have been formed over the years through "West Girls".
On
4th August 2016 the Association are holding a 60th anniversary
Greensome at West Kilbride Golf Club, where it is hoped to welcome many
"old girls" for golf and/or lunch.
More information will appear on the West Girls website http://www.wsgga.btik.com/ in due course
