Mehaffey v Doyle Irish final on the cards

Olivia Mehaffey (Royal Co Down Ladies), who will be a key member of the GB and I line-up in the Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe at Malone GC, Belfast on Friday and Saturday, is through to the semi-finals of the Irish women's close championship over the Old Tom Morris links at Rosapenna.

Defending champion Mary Doyle (The Heath) is in the other semi-final so a Mehaffey (pictured) v Doyle final is on the cards although their doughty opponents, Laura Doherty (Howth) and Sahra Helly (Enniscrone), will have their own ideas about how it is all going to work out tomorrow.

Sarah Helly secured a big win at the 21^st hole over Paula Grant (Lisburn).

Past  Curtis Cup player, Danielle McVeigh (Royal Co Down Ladies)) showed her class in winning the Plate competition although Maeve Kelly (Castle Dargan) took her all the way to the 18th green before being beaten.
