Laura Walker, champion in 2008-2010, top

seed for P and K match-play at Strathmore

Laura Walker (Muckhart), title-winner in 2008 and 2010, is the top seed for this year's Perthshire and Kinross women's county championship at Strathmore Golf Centre.
She headed the returns in yesterday's qualifying round with an excdellent scratch 73 in windy conditions.
The No 2 seed, Jennifer Saxton, a student at Stirling University and also a Muckhart GC member, had an 80. Jennifer finished fourth in the recent Scottish women's universities stroke-play championships at Lossiemouth and won the individual match-play title.
Defending P and K champion Jillian Milne (Blairgowrie) and last year's beaten finalist, Stephanie Crolla (Muckhart) also qualified for the match-play stages which will tee off on Saturday morning.
Full marks to Nicola Robertson (Stirling), pictured right, for hot-footing it back from America, where she has just completed her first year at King University, Bristol in the state of Tennessee.
Nicola arrived back in Scotland at noon yesterday and wasted no time in getting to Strathmore Golf Centre at Alyth to play in her county championship qualifying round. Well done, Nicola!
The leading handicap qualifier was new county member, Amy Thomson from Dunblane, with a nett 75.
