Andrew McArthur in the Danish mix

Lancashire’s Jack Senior took charge of the Made in Denmark Challenge after a second round of one under 70 saw him leapfrog overnight leader Ruaidhri McGee from Donegal at the top of the leaderboard.
Senior’s four under total is a commendable effort, given the difficult nature of Royal Copenhagen Golf, which is providing the stiffest test of the Challenge Tour season so far. Only eight players managed to better the par of 71 in round two, with the eight over par cut mark of 150 the highest of the season by a considerable eight shots.
Senior, though, was not concerned with the cut line as he carved out his one under par second round to move to four under and one clear of McGee, who carded a 72 to fall back to second place, one shot clear of Glasgow’s Andrew McArthur, whose second consecutive 70 moved him into third spot.
Senior said: “It’s a really tough test of golf this week. I think nearly every shot you hit you are under the gun – there is no let up and every shot demands a lot of attention.
“Obviously I am pleased with my score and where I am in the tournament. It was a case of hitting as many fairways and greens as possible today, that is the key if you want to do anything around this golf course. You have to really commit to your lines and hit good quality shots.
“It all sounds pretty boring but over the weekend it is going to have be a case of staying in the present and trying to keep doing what I have done over the first two rounds.
McGee started his day looking likely to run away with the tournament but Royal Copenhagen soon brought the 24 year old back to earth with a bang.
“I got off to a great start – I was three under through five holes and then made a three putt six on the sixth hole for a double bogey,” explained McGee. “I turned in one under and made a couple of other birdies but then I just made a mess of my finish to be honest and made three bogeys in the last four holes so it wasn’t the best finish.
“I think we’ll need to see what the weather and conditions bring tomorrow before I think about a plan of attack. I think you really just need to find fairways and greens here and try and take your chances if they come.”
McArthur is looking to inject some positivity into his weekend play after a steady, if unspectacular, start to the week.
“It was steady again today but I am pretty pleased with the score because it was tough out there again today through a combination of the golf course, the conditions and the pin positions,” said the Scot.
“I’m in a great position so really looking forward to the weekend. I think I need to be a bit more positive over the final two rounds – I haven’t been playing great stuff but the game is definitely improving so hopefully I can take that into the weekend and get myself into contention.”

Only two other Scots - Peter Whiteford (143) and Elliot Saltman (147)_made the cut.
The Danish Challenge, meanwhile, remains in relatively good shape, with former European Tour winner Jeppe Huldahl and Mads Søgaard leading the home charge.
