LEONA MAGUIRE'S PAR 72 START TO

ORLANDO, Florida – In the second tournament of the 2014-15 US college golf campaign, the seventh-ranked Duke women’s golf team opened with a five-over-par, 293, and sits tied eighth overall at the Annika Intercollegiate, which is being played at the 6,247-yard, par 72 Watson Course at the Reunion Resort in Orlando
Arizona opened with an eight-under-par, 280, Sunday and leads by two strokes over South Carolina (282). Northwestern (286), Stanford (286), Oklahoma State (287), Southern California (287), Alabama (292), Arizona State (293), Duke (293), UCLA (295), Pepperdine (295) and Vanderbilt (300) rounded out the field.
Playing in her first collegiate tournament of the season, junior Celine Boutier from France led the Blue Devils with a one-under-par, 71, Sunday as she carded three birdies on the day.
Wanasa Zhou of Arizona and Justine Dreher of South Carolina turned in four-under-par rounds of 68 and holds the individual lead after day one.
Freshman Leona Maguire (pictured above) posted an even-par 72, and is tied 20th with 36 holes remaining. Maguire, who is from Cavan, Ireland, started par-birdie-bogey.
She was solid over the next 14 holes playing one-under-par with a birdie on the 520-yard, par five eighth hole. Maguire suffered a bogey on the 18th to close the round.
Coming off winning her first collegiate tournament at the Cougar Classic to open the season, sophomore Sandy Choi posted a one-over-par, 73, in round one and is tied 28th.
Freshman Lisa Maguire, twin of Leona, posted a five-over, 77, on day one and is tied 49th overall.
Over the final 15 holes, Maguire suffered six bogeys.
