POLSON, YOUNG, MEGAN BRIGGS AND McKECHIN THRO TO SEMI-FINALS AT LONGNIDDRY

Peterculter's Rachel Polson reached the semi-finals of the Scottish women's amateur golf championship at LongniddryGolf Club, East Lothian this morning.
The No 8 seed, Rachel (pictured) beat the 16th of the 32 match-play qualifiers, Louise Macgregor (Falkirk) by 4 and 3 in the quarter-finals.
She will play the  No 4 seed, 16-year-old Clara Young (North Berwick) this afternoon, for a place in the final.
Clara beat the No 5 seed and former Scottish girls champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacom) by 3 and 2.
Polson, 20, recently arrived home at the end of her second year as a student at Florida Tech.
Macgregor, the Stirling and Clackmannanshire county champion four years in a row, beat the No 1 seed, Jessica Meek (Carnoustie) at the 19th in the second round.
Alyson McKechin (Elderslie), the No 7 seed from Paisley and SLGA Women's Order of Merit leader, beat Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) by 5 and 3.
The last quarter-final to finish saw Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm), 23-year-old sister of Eilidh and the champion at Southerness in 2009, win at the 19th against 39-year-old Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe), conqueror of No 3 seed Jane Turner (Craigielaw) in the Second Round.

Rachel Polson (Peterculter) bt Louise Macgregor (Falkirk) 4 and 3. 
Clara Young (North Berwick) bt Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm) 3 and 2.
Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) bt Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) at 19th.
Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) bt Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) 5 and 3.
