Paula Grant from Ireland, with a round of 77, was the highest placed English, Welsh or Irish player in joint seventh position at the end of the first round of the South American women's amateur championship at El Rincon Golf Club, Bogota in Colombia.
On a day of testing conditions, Canada's Brooke Henderson led the field of 52 players by one shot with a 73.
British stroke-play champion Sarah-Jane Boyd (Truro) was in joint 13th place with a 79.
Alex Peters (Notts Ladies) had an 83 which put her in joint 25th place.
Sam Birks (Wales) had an 87 for a share of 44th position.
Jessica Carty, the young Irish prospect had an 91 for 48th place.
