CARNOUSTIE CLASSIC FROM MAY 13 TO 16: BOOK NOW

NEWS RELEASE BY Carnoustie Country

Are you looking for a special Christmas gift for the golfer who has everything? How about the chance to compete in the 2013 Carnoustie Country Classic?
From May 13-16, 2013, this highly popular golf tournament will be played on four of the world’s classic links courses, including the famous Open venue, Carnoustie Championship, providing a fabulous opportunity to experience golf in all its east coast of Scotland glory.
In fact, as well as being an ideal Christmas gift, the Carnoustie Country Classic is also perfect for a golfing break for groups of golfers, with Gents’, Ladies’ and over-65s’ Championships to play for.
The Carnoustie Country Classic consists of a 72-hole Stableford competition on Monifieth Medal, Panmure Barry, Montrose Medal and Carnoustie Championship, with the ‘stay and play’ package costing £599 per person (based on two people sharing a room).
This includes tournament entry fee, green fees, five nights' B and B accommodation in the four star Carnoustie Golf Hotel and daily transport to each day’s courses.
There are also daily individual prizes, as well as a welcome reception, quiz night and gala prize-giving dinner – with the added bonus of the tournament’s well-deserved reputation as one of the friendliest competitions in the amateur golfing calendar.
“This event is hard to beat for good golf and good value,” said leading Irish golf journalist, Ivan Morris, who recently enjoyed several days of golf in Carnoustie Country and is keen to return for the Carnoustie Country Classic.
“Playing on these courses is magical.”
Entries have already been received from golfers from across the UK , with several from further afield.
"This is the tenth year of the Carnoustie Country Classic and its continued popularity is testament to the pulling power of the fantastic golf courses in this part of Scotland ,” said Cllr Mairi Evans, golf spokesperson for Carnoustie Country, which covers 30 golf courses within a 40-minute drive of Carnoustie Championship.
Entries are open to men and women golfers, with a maximum handicap of 24 (men) and 36 (ladies). Packages are also available for golf and social events only (£399) and for accompanying non-golfers (accommodation and social events only, £329), who have an excellent choice of activities, including shopping, sighting seeing, museums, historical buildings, outdoor activities, restaurants and theatres.
