IRISH INTER-CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP AT COURTOWN

The All Ireland Quarter Finals, semi finals and finals of the Private Home Care Inter-Club Championships take place this week at Courtown Golf Club.
Courtown Golf Club has previously hosted the GUI Mixed Foursomes Leinster Finals in 2011, Midland District Finals in 2007 and Midland District Senior Cup Finals in 2002.  
The club has 1400 members and is situated in north County Wexford, 5 kms from the town of Gorey and although the boundaries of the course come within 100 metres of the sea, Courtown is actually a parkland course. 
Thirty teams from across the Country, six from each of the five ILGU Districts (Ulster, Munster, Connacht, East Leinster and Mid Leinster) will be represented at finals.  
Munster’s Castletroy Golf Club has an unprecedented four teams through to the 2012 All Ireland finals having won District pennants in the Junior and Senior Foursomes as well as the Junior and Challenge Cups.  The club will be looking to add to their only National title – the Challenge Cup in 2009. 
Malone Golf Club from Belfast reached the All Ireland finals of the Minor Cup in 2010 and this year the club has teams in both the Intermediate Cup and Senior Foursomes.  
They will be hopeful of returning from Courtown with at least one National pennant while Co. Armagh Golf Club is represented for the first time in the finals with their Challenge Cup team. 
The names and handicap ranges for the singles and foursomes Private Home Care Inter-Club Championships are as follows;
Junior Cup                           h’cap     8 – 15
Intermediate Cup                  h’cap     16 – 22
Minor Cup                            h’cap     23 – 29
Challenge Cup                      h’cap     30 – 36
Senior Foursomes                 Minimum combined 14 
Junior Foursomes                  h’cap 15 – 30 (minimum combined 35)
Teams must play in order of handicap/combined handicap with no shots conceded.
