ANGUS REGAIN NORTHERN DIVISION TITLE IN IMPRESSIVE STYLE

As expected Angus overpowered Northern Counties 6-3 in their final game to win the Northern Division women's inter-county team championship at Monifieth Links with a 100 per cent record - three wins out of three.
They now go forward to the Scottish county finals and with Montrose Links the venue for the September contest against the East, West and South divisional champions, this well-balanced Angus side, average age 22, with a mixture of youth and experience, has a rare chance to win the national title.
This is the second time in three years that Angus has won the Northern Division championship which is remarkable when one considers they won the title only twice (1984 and 1999) in the previous 32 years.
Jessica Meek and Ann Ramsay were the top performers for Angus at Monifieth with 4 1/2pt out of five each. Not far behind was Rebecca Wilson with four wins.
Aberdeenshire finished runners-up with 4pt - an improvement on last year - while defending champions Perth and Kinross went from first to last in the space of 12 months.
