EWAN, AILSA BOTH WIN BY FOUR AT SGA WINTER SERIES EVENT

Ewan Scott (St Andrews) and Ailsa Summers (Carnoustie Ladies) both achieved victory by four strokes in the boys' and girls' sections of today's (Sunday) Scottish Golf Academy Under-16 Winter Series event over the Eden course, St Andrews, writes Colin Farquharson (Colin@scottishgolfview.com) .
Scott (pictured by Cal Carson Golf Agency), winner of the English Under-14 boys' open championship two years ago and also the November event in the Scottish Golf Academy series at Strathmore, shot a four-under-par 66 over a course he plays regularly,
He had six birdies - at the first, fourth, ninth, 11th, 17th and 18th, in halves of 34 (one under par) and 32 (three under), bogeying only the third and the sixth before covering the remaining 12 holes in an impressive four under par.
His nearest rival in a field of 40 was Ewen Ferguson (Bearsden) with a par-matching 70 (35-35), one ahead of the third-placed Fraser Davren (Williamwood).
Ailsa Summers (pictured below by Cal Carson Golf Agency), who plays for the Angus women's county team and is a girl international, shot a two-under-par 71 from the girls' tees. She had an eagle at the 16th and birdies at the third, eighth, 13th and 18th in halves of 38 (one over) and 33 (three under).
Lesley Atkins (Gullane Ladies), winner of last year's Scottish Under-18 girls' match-play championship, finished second with a 75.
Three girls - Lauren Whyte (St Regulus), Kimberley Beveri8dge (Aboyne) and Connie Jaffery (Troon Ladies) - finished joint third on 77 in a field of 20.
