BARON FINISHES 42 OVER PAR IN
NCAA DIV 2 CHAMPIONSHIP
Chris Baron from Oldmeldrum will be glad it’s all over – the NCAA Division 2 men’s golf championship at The Meadows Golf Club, Allendale, Michigan.
At the end of his freshman year at Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina, Chris encountered the toughest golf course in his life, with rock-hard fairways and “jungle-thick” rough if you missed them.
Baron finished 42 over par for the four rounds over the par-71, 6,992yd course.
He scored 76, 80, 87 and 83 for 326 and 97th place in a field of 105 players.
Christian Ries (Columbus State) won the individual title with rounds of 73, 71, 70 and 71 for one-over-par 285 – six shots clear of Hernan Borja (Barry) with 70, 73, 75 and 73
Belmont Abbey College, with a 65-over-par total of 1201, finished joint sixth of 20 in the team event won by Barry University with 50-over-par 1186.
