YATES SLIPS BACK TO JOINT THIRD

Stirling student Gordon Yates had his worst round so far – a par 72 – and slipped down to joint third place on eight-under 208 in the men’s individual standings with one round to go in the world university golf championship at Circolo Golf Torino in Italy today.
Team-mate Daniel Willett from Sheffield and Jacksonville State University is in sixth place on 212 after a 71.
Great Britain fell back in the men’s team event to joint third place behind Japan.
In the women’s championship, Dunblane’s Heather MacRae had her best round so far, a one-over-par 73, and improved to 11th place in the individual table. The Great Britain women are ninth behind United States in the team event.
