EURO JUNIOR WOMEN TEAM

SCOTS  DISAPPOINT WITH TWELFTH

 PLACE FINISH IN NETHERLANDS

Scotland, with a strong team on paper, failed to play to their potential and missed out on qualifying for one of the top eight places in the championship match-play flight of the European junior women’s team golf championship at Pan Golf Club, Netherlands today.

Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) returned to form with a 73 – eight shots better than her first-day effort – but the only other Scot to break 80 in the second round was Gemma Webster (Hilton Park) whose 79 was 10 shots worse than her first round.

Scottish Under-21 champion Louis had an 80, Michele Thomson from Ellon an 83, Laura Murray from Alford an 86 and Stirling University student Clare-Marie Carlton (Fereneze) had a sad 91.

In the end Spain led the top-flight qualifiers by 26 shots with a total of 716. England and Sweden both totalled 742.

Wales claimed the last of the eight places on 756.

Scotland were 12th with 784.
