ENGLISH U-16 BOYS' OPEN STROKE-PLAY

MICHAEL STEWART (73) LEADING SCOT

Troon teenager Michael Stewart was the best placed Scot at the end of the first round of the McGregor Trophy English Under-16 boys’ open stroke-play championship at Worthing Golf Club, Sussex today.
Troon Welbeck member Michael had a round of 73 – five shots behind the leader, Liam Brace (Stoke-by-Nayland) on a day when the CSS was 74.
Paul Shields (Kirkhill) was next best of the Scots on 74.
The leading 45 players and ties at the end of the second round will play the final 36 holes of the 72-hole championship on Friday.
