LGU CHALLENGE BOWLS

LESLEY AND ISOBEL SCORE DOUBLE

WHAMMIES AT DUNBLANE

Ayrshire champion Lesley Hendry’s trip over to Dunblane for the LGU Challenge Bowls tournament was well worthwhile. The Routenburn player won the Wallace Williamson Bowl for the best scratch score of 68 in a field of 38 and she made it a double whammy by winning the Silver Division’s LGU Challenge Bowl with her net score of 66.

Under the rules of the competition, Lesley could win both trophies but not first prize in the handicap section which went to Jacqueline Sneddon (Alyth) with a net 70 off six. Janette McCartney (Erskine) was runner-up with a net 72 off eight.

For the second year in a row Isobel Millar (Vale of Leven) won both the trophies in the Bronze Division. She took the Scratch Cup with a score of 90 and the Bronze Division LGU Challenge with a net 67 off 23, the same handicap as last year.

Doris Reid (Tillicoultry), with a net 72 off 22, won the first handicap prize in the Bronze Division. Sandra Perrie (Vale of Leven) was runner-up with a net 73 off 25.

The par for the women’s course at Dunblane is 71. The CSS on the day was also 71.
