NEWS FROM US COLLEGE GOLF CIRCUIT

WEBBER INTERNATIONAL HAVE 31

PLAYERS ON MALE GOLF ROSTER!

Webber International University, based at Lake Wales, Florida has arguably more players on its golf roster than half a dozen teams put togetheer - some 31 are listed on their website, and, of them, 11 are from Britain.
Must be hard to get a game for Webber International?
Well, not really! Nine of their Brits played in the 21st annual Webber Intercollegiate at Lake Wales Country Club at the weekend running into Monday.
Stuart Winsby, a junior student from Northern Ireland, topped the Webber hit parade in this tournament, finishing 18th on 222 with scores of 75, 73 and 74 - 12 strokes behind the winner, Damon Salo (Johnson and Wales) (67-72-71).
Webber have quantity but what they really need is a quality. 
In their own tournament, they finished third with a team total of 874 behind winners Johnson and Wales (855), and Eastern Florida State (862).
Second highest Webber International individual was Sam De'Ath, a sophomore from Fleet. He shot 74-75-75 for T21 on 224.
Alex Fellas, a sopho from Norfolk, came T26 pm 226 (78-72-76)
Matthew Basey, a junior from Bristol shot 74, 79 and 77 for T36 on 230.
Jack Robinson, a junior from London was T44 on 231 (77-75-79).
James Holt, a junior from Manchester finished T54 on 236 (74-83-79)
Brendan Parrish, a freshman from Doncaster, shot 79-78-81 for 238 and a T57 finish.
Kenny Overthrow, a sopho from Gloucester, and Nicholas Cox, a senior from Essex, tied for 62nd place on 240. Kenny had scores of 79, 83 and 78;,
 Nicholas shot 80-78-82.

NEWS RELEASE FROM ILGU

Teams from all around the country arrived early this morning 

ahead of the Private Home Care Inter Club Semi-Finals and 

Finals. 

Today and tomorrow will see teams in the Junior Cup, 

Intermediate Cup, Minor Cup, Challenge Cup and Senior and 

Junior Foursomes battle it out for the six green National 

pennants an offer. 

East Cork and Gort have progressed to the 

Final of the Junior Foursomes while Dooks will take on Lurgan 

in the Final of the Junior Cup. 

JUNIOR FOURSOMES
Semi Finals
Edenmore put up a strong battle but it was not enough to overcome the in-form East Cork. East Cork edged the win in the first two matches on the 18th. Gort proved to be too strong for Corrstown in the first two foursomes matches as they secured wins on the 17th which sees them through to the final. It will be an exciting and close final between East Cork and Gort tomorrow, 26 September.

Dooks arrived in Monkstown to play Kilkenny and certainly got off to a fast start.  They played great golf to progress to the final of the Junior Cup. They will face Lurgan tomorrow with the National green pennant in sight.

GEORGIA HALL NOW SHARING LEAD IN FRANCE

SCOTS TRIO MAKE CUT AT 

STRASBOURG

Jane Turner (146), Gemma Webster (148) and Laura Murray (148) all made the second-round cut in the Open Generali de Strasbourg women's professional tournament at Strasbourg Golf Club, France.
Craigielaw's Turner had a pair of 73s to be lying joint 27th.
Webster (Succession Group) shot 72-76 to be T42 alongside Murray (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) who had a pair of 74s.
The cut fell at 149 after looking like being 148 for most of the day.
Three players share the lead on 138 - Vittoria Valvasorri (Italy) (71-67), Cassandra Kirkland (France) (70-68) and first-round pacemaker England's former British women's amateur champion Georgia Hall (66-72).

DUSEK MAKES TOP 20 AT CATEECHEE

Andy Dusek from Woking, Surrey, a sophomore student at Union College, Kentucky, finished T16 in a field of 42 players at the Emmanuel Invitational college tournament at Cateechee Golf Club, Hartwell, Georgia.
Andy shot 75-78 for 153 - 16 shots behind the winner by five, Deven Broadaway (Truett-McConnell) (68-69 for 137)
