STACY LEWIS WINS SHOPRITE LPGA CLASSIC BY FOUR STROKES

World number seven Stacy Lewis has claimed her second LPGA Tour win of 2012 with a four-shot victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic as Katherine Hull rallied late to finish second

Lewis led overnight and shot an even-par 71 on Sunday to win the three-round event on 12 under overall.
The 27-year-old looked to be heading for an even more comfortable win, holing four birdies on her first eight holes of the day.
But three bogeys and a double bogey over the rest of her final round undid the American's good early work.
Australian Hull produced four birdies on the last six holes for a three-under 68 and outright second place.
Hull finished on eight under, four shots behind Lewis, with Japan's Mika Miyazato and Azahara Munoz of Spain tied for third on seven under.
Karrie Webb ended up at one under and tied for 23rd after a one-under 70 in the final round, while Sarah Jane Smith, the only other Australian to make the cut, finished on one over.
Lexi Thompson of the United States, Korea's Hee-Won Han and Sweden's Anna Nordqvist finished tied for fifth on six under.
The world's top two Yani Tseng and Na Yeon Choi finished tied for 12th with four other players on three under, while world number three Suzann Pettersen was a further shot back.

TEXAS UNIVERSITY WINS FIRST NCAA MEN'S TITLE IN 40 YEARS

PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIFORNIA (AP)—Texas won its third NCAA men's golf championship Sunday, defeating Alabama 3-2 when senior Dylan Frittelli drained a 20-foot birdie putt at Riviera Country Club, Los Angeles.

With the overall match tied 2-2, Frittelli came to the 18th hole all square with Cory Whitsett. When Whitsett nearly whiffed his third shot, a chip from behind the green on the par-4 home hole that advance only an inch, and his fourth shot landed six feet from the hole, the South African drained his birdie opportunity.

"I don't even know what happened," Frittelli said. "It was all a blur. I just wanted to make that putt. It was amazing."

Alabama took the first two matches. Hunter Hamrick defeated Julio Vegas 6 and 5, and Bobby Wyatt knocked in a 30-foot chip from behind the green to down Toni Hakula, 1 up.

Texas then won the next two matches. Jordan Spieth closed out fellow freshman Justin Thomas, 3 and 2. Cody Gribble defeated Scott Strohmeyer, 2 and 1, to improve to 3-0 in match play, leaving it up to Frittelli.

"It came down to the last hole with two great players," Texas coach John Fields said. "Dylan did something fantastic. We are so fortunate."
Texas also won NCAA championships in 1971 and '72, when former PGA Tour golfers and major championship winners Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite were on the team.
"This was a classic 1 vs. 2 matchup," Alabama coach Jay Seawell said. "You hate to lose, but Texas did what they needed to do, and they are a
