MacRae sets the Heather on fire to be lying joint

35th in a field 158 male professionals

Heather MacRae, playing over one of the toughest courses in Scotland and the only female in a field of 159, did very well indeed in the first round of the Gleneagles Scottish PGA championship today.
She had a three-over-par 75 to be lying joint 35th. The top 50 and ties after 36 holes will contest the weekend's two rounds.

From Graeme Thomson,
father of LET player Michele Thomson

I see an article in the P&J online suggesting Michele is playing in Ireland this weekend. I, along with Michele, wish it were true. Because of the high number of amateur invites, 11 I believe, Michele dropped to 3rd reserve.
Seems the sponsors are calling the shots over there rather than the LET.
Disappointing because Michele moved up 12 places in the rankings after her fine start which means she should play all the tournaments from here on in.
The tournament in Ireland is very popular and anyone who is anyone has entered, obviously because the prize money is good.
Michele's next start is Norway next week and then on to Spain.
Isn't it ironic, Westerberg wins the last LET event and Nordqvist wins an LPGA major, yet the LET have confirmed that they have lost this year,s Swedish event because of a lack of sponsors. Shows we are still very much in a recession.
