LYNN KENNY ONE BEHIND LEADERS IN
PORTUGUESE WOMEN'S OPEN

Obviously boosted by her best-ever performance last week - a top-10 finish on the Ladies European Tour, Lynn Kenny has come out of the traps like a greyhound (hopefully she will pardon the comparison), in the Portuguese Women's Open.
Lynn, representing Archerfield Links Golf Club, shot a first-round 69 to be only one shot off the pace.
Kathryn Imrie didn't do too badly either. The Monifieth player had a 71.
Clare Queen (Carrick at Cameron House) had a 73.

Clubgolf at Stirling

30 primary 5 pupils from local schools recently completed their Clubgolf coaching at Stirling Golf Club. Golf Professional Phil Morris said "The youngsters have progressed really well over the 10 week period. Most of them had not played golf before, and now have attained basic skills in putting, chipping and full swing. I would like to thank Clubgolf and the volunteer coaches for their input to the programme".

CARLY BOOTH FINISHES WITH A DOUBLE BOGEY
BUT WINS SCOTTISH U-21 GIRLS' TITLE BY
NINE STROKES FROM LAURA AND KYLIE

Only a few days after her old brother Wallace won the Tennant Cup by five shots, Carly Booth from Comrie spreadeagled the field to win the Scottish Under-21 girls’ open amateur stroke-play championship by nine strokes at Auchterarder Golf Club today.
“Anything he can do, I can do better,” joked Carly, who had her 15th birthday only last week and has a +2 handicap that should soon be +3.
“Seriously, I owe this win to Wallace for sorting out my golf swing after I came home from a few months at the Golf Academy in Florida. My brother took me back to basics, back to the natural swing that I had lost and he has worked hard to put me back on track.”
Carly, a former member of the Auchterarder club, had rounds of 70, 68 and 69 for a three-under-par total of 207 over a course lengthened by the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association to 5,488yd with a par of 70, but a standard scratch score of 72 specially for this event.
Despite dropping three shots late on in her final round, including a double-bogey at the par-3 last where she was plugged in a bunker, Miss Booth won by the runaway margin of nine strokes from Robert Gordon University student Laura Murray (Alford) and Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle).
Carly also won the Menzies Cup for the lowest scored by an Under-18 year old
The record winning margin in this championship was set only 12 months ago by Krystle Caithness who beat the field by 11 shots with a record low total of 202. Krystle was unable to defend the title this week because she was required to practise with the rest of the Great Britain & Ireland squad at Fairmont St Andrews for next month’s Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent.
Carly, who has played for Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup match, has now won two Scottish titles. Last year, she won the Scottish Under-16 girls’ open title.
